Profession:Attorney, Appointed Councilmember
City Councilman, Los Alamitos City Council — Appointed position (2017–current)

Georgetown University Law Center (Law Degree), UCLA (Psychology Degree) Law Degree, B.A. Psychology, Law, Psychology (2004)

Welcome!  My name is Mark Chirco and I'm honored to represent you as a Los Alamitos City Council Member and hope to earn your vote in the November 2018 election.  I pride myself on being prepared, reasonable and thoughtful in every action I take on the council.

I have lived in Los Alamitos since 2011 and am proud to call this wonderful city my home.  I have been a practicing attorney in California since 2004.  I earned my undergraduate degree from UCLA (go Bruins!) and my law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.  I've been employed at a large international law firm, as a senior attorney for a multi-billion dollar automotive distributor and as the head attorney and corporate officer for an international construction materials manufacturer.  This wide-ranging business experience has proven invaluable to the Los Alamitos City Council because, as the only attorney on the city council, I am uniquely qualified to understand the legal risks, issues and legislation before us as well as budgeting, business decision making and the way legislative bodies affect individuals, businesses, employers and employees.
Prior to being appointed to the Los Alamitos City Council by a 4-0 vote in December, 2017, I served on the Los Alamitos Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Commission which provides guidance and support to the community as well as the Los Alamitos City Council.  I currently serve on the Orange County Library Advisory Board, the Los Alamitos Budget Standing Committee and the Board of the Orange County Mosquito Vector Control District.  I am also a member of the Orange County Bar Association, Association of Corporate Counsel, Rossmoor Elementary School PTA and am admitted to practice law in California and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.  Additionally, I have been an AYSO coach since 2016.  I previously volunteered at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (“CHOC”) and was a recipient of the Wiley W. Manual Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services related to my volunteering work at CHOC.
If elected, I will continue to do everything I can to ensure responsible local government through rational decision making, long-term planning, greater transparency and confidence in local government.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I am an independent and rational thinker without political agenda.  My only goal is to do what is right for Los Alamitos and its residents.
