My Top 3 Priorities

  • Fix Ortega and Fight the Toll Road Beltway: We need to remove the pinch point backing up our daily drives and fight TCA’s proposed Toll Road route through the Open Space and Wildlife Preserve behind our District 2 homes.
  • Preserve our Equestrian Riding Park and Local Stables: The City’s recent multi-million dollar lawsuit settlement now threatens the viability of our equestrian facilities. We need to work to protect these important community resources.
  • Improve Water Rates: Our City has committed to sell our water business and the next City Council will select from several competing providers. My background in accounting and financial analysis can help identify the best solution for our residents.

Experience

Biography

My wife, Mandy, and I first moved to San Juan Capistrano as newlyweds and we have been blessed by the great opportunities available to families in our town.

Our children attend our local elementary, middle and high schools—participating in San Juan’s award-winning Spanish Language Immersion program. They have been fortunate to participate in the many extracurricular activities available to our town’s kids including sports, music, horseback riding, scouting and service opportunities. Mandy and I volunteer to help and lead in these endeavors whenever we can. I’m active in Boy Scouts, AYSO soccer, Little League baseball and our church’s youth programs. Mandy volunteers on San Juan Hills High School’s accreditation and curriculum committees. She’s also the world’s greatest team mom. Serving on the City Council is another way for us to give back to the community that has helped our family, and our opportunity to help keep San Juan Capistrano a great place to raise future families.

My educational background is in accounting and business management. I started my career in Orange County as an auditor with KPMG, one of the world’s top accounting firms, then spent several years providing financial analysis and advice for companies with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). I took a break from my time at BCG to return to graduate school and receive an MBA from the Harvard Business School. I’ve spent the last fifteen years helping design and manage several of California’s leading senior communities. My career experiences have helped me develop an ability to organize and lead teams and to build consensus across groups with diverse opinions and backgrounds. These experiences have included opportunities to work with our city staff in San Juan Capistrano and other California cities facing similar challenges. I believe these experiences have prepared me to help San Juan seize opportunities and avoid pitfalls over the next several years.
