Community Activities

Volunteer, Santa Ana Police Department (2018–current)

My name is Irma Macias and I am proud to call Santa Ana my home for the past 44 years.  Born and raised in Michoacan, Mexico, I immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 with my family. Growing up I was unable to attend school and instead was expected to work in the fields along with my family.  As time passed, I inevitably sought out classes for English as a second language and eventually attended ROP classes to become a clerk typist. After living in the United States for some time, I continued my path of self-growth and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 2005.

I have raised 5 children, all boys, which have graduated from various levels of college and universities and in different fields of study. As a result of being engaged in my children’s schooling, I worked for the Santa Ana School system for 10 yrs. In addition, I became active in my neighborhood by being involved in many organizations in the city, trying to help residents make a better quality of life for themselves and showing them how to abide by the laws of our city.

For the last 2 years, I have been volunteering as a Santa Ana Police Dept. volunteer working in Code Enforcement.  I enjoy this very much because I get to visit all the neighborhoods here in Santa Ana and talk to the people, listen to their concerns, and collaborate with them to find the correct channels for them to address their issues. This is a very rewarding experience.  I have always tried to help my fellow man in anyway I can, by educating them about what our city has to offer its citizens.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe each person, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, deserves equal respect and equal rights to pursue a meaningful life. In addition, I believe, neither in raising nor lowering taxes, but in a fair tax system that promotes innovation and industry. I am running for office in order to create change within the city that I call home. I have lived in Santa Ana for over 44 years and have seen the evolution of the city as the years have passed. My goal in running for office is to give the people of Santa Ana a candidate that will listen and work with various levels of government to improve their quality of life and lead Santa Ana into a brighter and prosperous future.
