My Top 3 Priorities

  • Implement effective reading and math curriculum
  • Curriculum advancement upon mastery
  • Implement valid measures of achievement as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills

I have dedicated the last 30 years of my life to improved and effective curriculum and instruction following my son's experiences in public schools.

I was born in Oak Park, Illinois and lived there about 8 years prior to my Dad's transfer to Omaha, Nebraska.

40 years and 24 years of marriage in Omana, I divorced and moved to Portland, Oregon. I spent 6 years in Oregon, 10 years back in Lincoln, Nebraska and have lived in Lompoc about a year and a half following my son's move here.

30 years ago at kindergarten curriculum night in our wealthy public school district, I learned about magic spelling- no relation to accurate spelling.

During a series of conferences in that wealthy district with professional educators and administrators, I was advised my son's recent increasing classroom behavior problems in 4th grade stemmed from his overuse of his computer at home after school.

We did not own a computer at that time.

I moved him to a poor, public school district in Iowa, 17 miles one way, from our home.

That district spent half as much per student. As a result of effective and self-paced curriculum, my son was a freshman in college and high school at the same time. He spent one half day at each, was on the deans list and honor roll simultaneously.

He began doing research for NASA at age 14 and went on to achieve his PhD in Chemical Engineering.

I am a candidate for LUSD school board to open the doors for ALL students to reach their greatest potential and pursue their individual goals.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I am a Constitutional Conservative and have declared No Preferred Party.

20 years ago I received a legal and threatening "Cease and Desist" letter from that wealthy Omaha District ordering me to stop telling the truth about schools.

I did not comply.

Experience suggests union control of education is analogous to court-sanctioned terrorism.

I witnessed union control of the education legislation and rule-making process as well as the votes for passage.

I garnered 38% of the vote for Oregon State Superintendent of Public Instruction . That position is no longer elected it is appointed.

For 6 years I wrote an on-line column for examining schools. My column was often #1 in the nation. The whole site went dark.

I will never back down. I will not be silenced. I will never give up the fight to save our children and our nation.
