My Top 3 Priorities

  • Improve Infrastructure - Poor road conditions impact property values, local businesses, and cause unnecessary wear and tear on vehicles. It is impertive that the city address infrastructural needs with long-term solutions.
  • Public Safety - We rely on our first responders for our safety. In return, it is the city’s duty to ensure that they are fairly compensated, have the equipment they need, and receive the support required to do their jobs.
  • Transparency and Accountability - Without leaders holding themselves accountable to the residents they represent and having difficult yet honest conversations, there can be no trust that the decisions being made are in the best interest of the public

Biography

I am a central valley native, born and raised in the City of Riverbank where my grandfather was the Mayor and a multi-term City Council member.  My family has a long tradition of public service which is why I understand the importance of serving my community and the positive impact a single person can have.

After receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Global Economics, including a year in Germany studying Economics, I spent many years living and working in various parts of the world.  I began to miss home and returned to the Central Valley in 2006.  While living in Merced I met and married my husband Carlos, a volunteer firefighter with the Turlock Rural Firefighters Association.  Together we have a blended family of four daughters and a son.  We were blessed last year with our first grandchild.

My 20-year career has been spent managing budgets, following fund accounting standards, and navigating policy. I have had the opportunity to influence policy governing higher education at the federal, state and local levels; manage budgets in excess of one-hundred million dollars; and lead institutions through difficult restructure and change.  I have found the key to leadership is to look at challenges and opportunities holistically, understanding interdependencies; to have difficult, respectful, and honest conversations; and a willingness to admit when you are wrong.
