Sarah Aquino is an independent thinker who does her homework, asks questions, and isn’t afraid to go against the status quo.
As a member of the Folsom Cordova School Board since December 2014, Sarah has been a consistent and vocal defender of taxpayer dollars. She has voted against adding non-essential positions such as a videographer, insisted that money be set aside to reduce the unfunded liability of the district’s post-retirement health benefits, and authored policy changes that increased the authority of the district’s bond oversight committees.
She co-authored the ballot statement against Measure E - the $80 million dollar sales tax measure on Folsom's ballot this November.
Sarah currently serves on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Folsom State Prison and California State Prison, Sacramento. She is a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce, former Library Commissioner for the City of Folsom, three-time PTA President at Russell Ranch Elementary, and former board member of the Folsom Cordova Education Foundation.
Sarah grew up in Fair Oaks, attended public schools in the San Juan district, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento. She is a licensed life and health insurance agent and runs her family's insurance agency.
Her husband, John, is a physical education and adaptive physical education teacher in the San Juan district. They have been married 19 years and have two children who attend public schools in Folsom.
