Experience

Biography

I am a parent of two current MHUSD students (an Ann Sobrato High School sophomore and  Martin Murphy Middle School 8th Grader) and a college freshman who recently graduated from Sobrato.  As my children have progressed through the Morgan Hill Unified school system, I have always been an active volunteer at their schools.

Briefly, I have served on the executive board of Home & School Clubs (H&SC) for nearly a decade, including: five years as the H&SC President at Nordstrom Elementary School, and two years as President at Martin Murphy and Sobrato, concurrently.  While a parent at these same schools, I participated as a member of their School Site Councils and have held leadership positions as well.  I have created strong partnerships with school administrators to better support students, teachers and school staff.

Beyond my experience at the school sites, I have also advocated for students and parents while serving on many District committees.  I was a diligent member of the District Advisory Committee (DAC), Middle School Reconfiguration and Boundary Committees.  As a school leader, I participated in workshops to help identify priorities for the creation of our District’s initial Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).  Through all of this work, I developed my knowledge and understanding of key policies and programs and recognized the importance of fiscal responsibility, transparency, collaboration and effective governance.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

As a dedicated school leader and active volunteer within the Morgan Hill Unified School District for nearly a decade, I am passionate about helping our schools achieve excellence.  I believe that ALL students deserve access to a high-quality, rigorous education.

I am ready to take my experience and dedication and apply it as a trustee on the School Board, and provide another perspective as an MHUSD parent of current students.  This voice and representation is important because we are directly impacted by the Board’s decisions and have the most at stake.  If elected, I will focus my efforts on: ensuring equitable support for all students and school sites in the District; attracting and retaining highly-qualified teachers; building partnerships between MHUSD, the City, local businesses and the community; advocating for transparency and fiscal responsibility; and promoting and encouraging parent participation.

If elected, I look forward to working with the rest of the Board with a collaborative mindset, utilizing effective governance practices.  I am committed to working with all stakeholders (parents, teachers, staff and the community) to support our schools as they strive to provide an exceptional education that will enable students to succeed in college, careers and life.  I have earned the endorsement of the Morgan Hill Federation of teachers and I respectfully ask for your vote.
