She volunteered as a campaign team member on State Assemblyman Jim Beall’s successful campaign for California State Senator.  Shortly thereafter, she followed up with another successful campaign for Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez.  In the Chavez campaign, she was responsible for organizing and strategizing the San Jose Vietnamese votes.  After Supervisor Cindy Chavez was elected in 2013, Van Lan joined her team as one of the Policy Aides. Van Lan worked on another successful campaign for City San Jose Council Member Ash Kalra for California Assemblymember in 2016.  She is currently a management analyst at Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Service, working on her special assignment for the future Santa Clara County Vietnamese American Services Center.
