My Top 3 Priorities

  • Build a healthy & vibrant local economy by attracting more new businesses such as Factory-OS, Mare Island Dry Docks, Savage and Cooke Distillery, Napa Smith Brewery, Film Mare Island, the Nimitz Group and more.
  • Increase City Services and spending on essential services like fixing our streets and increasing Public Safety.
  • Ensure government transparency & accountability: focus on responsible and transparent financial management to rebuild Vallejo’s financial health, including a sensible 15% cash reserves, and saying "NO" to secret meetings.

ENSURING GOVERNMENT tRANSPARENCY & aCCOUNTABILITY

Spending wisely -My financial management skills & experience will allow me to continue safeguarding the taxpayers’ hard earned money.  I aim to ensure public funds are spent wisely, as well as rebuild the City’s reserves. I also pledge to continue advocating for government transparency and accountability.

Having a reserve for when it’s really needed - Prior to bankruptcy, we used our reserves for regular operating expenses like salaries and benefits. Spending the “rainy day “reserve fund, made it difficult to weather the really big storm of the great recession.  Now that the economy has recovered and we exited bankruptcy, the City has re-established a healthy reserve fund ensuring we’re better prepared for any uncertainties in the future.  Consistent with my track record, I will continue to insist we maintain healthy reserves so that in the event of another recession, we shouldn’t have to face bankruptcy again.

Be transparent -Transparency is critical for a stable and efficient government, and to rebuild the trust—lost during bankruptcy—between the community and City Hall. I will continue to demand from city staff and my colleagues, that city business is conducted with the utmost of transparency,

Vallejo is in the best financial shape it has been for many years.  But the biggest threat we continue to face are uncertain financial conditions that could reverse our recent success and erode our ability to provide city services.  We all know that resources are limited, and I will continue to use my financial management skills and my deep knowledge of local issues to make sure our taxes are spent where they are most needed and most effective, to make sure we remain financially stable and provide the services our residents deserve.

As an independent candidate with no corporate ties, I will always fight against special interests that want to make a quick buck without any concern for our City’s fiscal health and welfare.
