I earned my BS Degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University,  MA Degree in Education from California State University and my Doctorate in Education from Pepperdine University. I also hold a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, Administrative Services Credential, and CLAD Certificate (to instruct English Language Learners). I have served for more than 29 years in the Pre – K through 12 school system as a classroom Teacher, GATE Coordinator, Reading Coordinator, Dean of Discipline, Assistant Principal of Special Education, and Principal. I have served on School Site Council Committees, Parent Advisory Committees, WASC Committees, School Site Advisory Committees, and have been a member of the teachers’ union.  As a parent of a Duarte Unified School student, I served on the PTSA for Northview Intermediate School and Duarte High School. I also served on DUSD Parent Committees and WASC Committees for DUSD.

In my career, I served in affluent communities, as well as, underprivileged and impoverished communities.  I worked with migrant children, incarcerated students, foster youth, EL, GATE, and homeless students.  I worked with outside agencies to bring nutritional breakfast meals to underserved students and for more than 17 years, I have taught at the college level in the School of Education and School of Humanities.  I coached and mentored numerous K-12 teachers entering the field of education.  I also worked with professionals who were pursuing MA in Education degrees. 

Currently, member of ACSA (Association of California School Administrators), NEA (National Education Association), CTA (California Teachers Association). Duarte Chamber, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and former Altadena Town Councilmember. 

Recipient of 2018-2019 CAAASA (California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators) School Board Member of the Year Award.

I have a daughter who is a college professor.
