Political Beliefs

Position Papers

We need to have stability and fiscal accountability on the AV Healthcare District Board

Summary

The District is sponsoring a general obligation bond in the November 2018 election. I oppose this measure. I believe we have enough money to do what we need to do.

We need to buy our existing debt of 140 million dollars. We need to use our existing resources to improve the ER Dept. We need to have formal meetings of the Board of Directors not meetings like Sunday dinners after church. We need to outreach to the federal government for help in improving the hospital. H.U.D. agency in Washington has wanted to help us twice and we haven't taken an advantage of this help. We need to reach out to the V.A. and see if we, with their help, can have in-patient clinics at AV Hosptial. We need to begin retrofiting the hospital now with what funds we have instead of proposing the property owners foot the bill for another hospital. We need formal board meetings which encourage public participation by the board members and the public. We need an audit to see what expendtiures have been made in the last two years and where we stand fiscally. We can do better in improving the lives of the patients, the staff, and the commuity. Having attended board meetings and finance committee meetings and having run for the board before make me quallified to serve the public. I hope they will give me an opportunity to do so.
