Biography

As a candidate, I’ll work to earn votes and the privilege to serve our community based on more than the simple premise of being “a new face with fresh ideas.”  Being a lifelong Camarillo resident, steeped in local and regional issues, I’ll use my broad-based business and financial knowledge and a robust community dialog in identifying issues facing our community and providing in-depth, achievable solutions. As a councilmember, I would commit to realigning the approach, communication, and transparency between our City and its residents; the lack of which has only worsened Camarillo’s challenges surrounding development and growth, traffic, water, our business community, term limits, among others.

I was born and raised in Camarillo. 5 generations of my family call Camarillo home, ranging in age from 94 to 2-years-old. My grandparents founded Donna Lee Donuts (predecessor to current Rolling Pin Donuts). I attended Camarillo High School and eventually graduated from Rio Mesa High School (family moved between school boundries within Camarillo). I was an active volunteer in the community through my participation in the Key Club, Camarillo Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, and through volunteering in the Pleasant Valley Hospital's Emergency Room.

My qualifications for running are deep and expansive. I earned a bachelor's degree in Business from CSU Channel Islands. I founded a student publication, served on the University Master Planning Committee, and shaped the direction and culture of the campus. I studied under Leon Panetta through The Panetta Institute for Public Policy and worked on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. I founded two Camarillo-based marketing and design businesses and oversaw the acquisition of both. The latter earned me the Camarillo Entrepreneur of the Year distinction. I joined Brendan’s Irish Pub and served as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing both its operational and financial health. I was an instrumental teammember in Brendan’s explosive growth from 1 to 3 locations, over 160 employees, and $6million in gross sales within 3 years. I know the responsibility of managing multi-million dollar budgets and payroll. In 2014 I joined my family’s 30-year-old, Camarillo-based custom cabinet company, California Designers Choice. I currently serve as Business Operations Manager as I pursue purchasing the company from my father. In between I married my wife, Kaytie, a 3rd grade teacher at Rancho Rosal, who keeps me grounded and is a brilliant, compassionate woman.

My priorities as a Councilmember would be to improve our quality of life, curb our excessive growth and development, improve communication with our community, support our local businesses, and redefine the role of a Camarillo Councilmember by being proactive in addressing resident issues and concerns. I’m honest, hardworking, and solutions-driven. I hope to put those attributes to work for our Camarillo community.
