I have served the public my entire adult life. I joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 where I served in the Infantry. I went to college on the GI Bill and funded my way through graduate school by running a program designed to obtain living-wage jobs for veterans. Prior to running the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Northeastern California and Northern Nevada and moving on the serve as the Chief Strategy Officer for the United Way in the Capital Region, I spent a year teaching US Government and Economics in an underserved community in Los Angeles. I was elected to the Eureka School Board in 2010 and have influenced many important decisions, including integrating a Spanish program within the school day, enhancing the safety on our campuses, bringing STEM to junior high, and many more accomplishments.

Political Philosophy
I believe that our hyper-partisan environment is toxic and curtails well-meaning public servants from accomplishing important achievements that could benefit those they serve. I am an independent voter myself and have had a proven track record of working very well with both Conservative and Liberal public officials by putting the needs of our constituents and most importantly the children of our district above partisan political posturing.
