James Cribb has a long record of community service experience that has provided him with the diverse skill set needed to help Sonoma plan for a brighter, more sustainable future as a member of the City Council.

The owner of Sonoma Dog Camp, a small business located on Broadway, James brings to the table proven experience managing a budget and employees, a history of getting things done on city boards and commissions, and a record of bringing people together to find innovative solutions to the challenges we face.

James’ community leadership experience includes service as:

  • Commissioner and Immediate Past Chairman, City of Sonoma Planning Commission
  • Former Chairman/Commissioner, City of Sonoma Design Review and Historic Preservation Commission
  • Citizen Scientist, Sonoma Land Trust

Prior to founding Sonoma Dog Camp in 2004 with his wife of 44 years, Sue Simon, James worked in the private sector and was a public school teacher & cross country coach.  James has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and Master’s Degree in Instructional System Design.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, Talladega, birdwatching, and spending time at community events or with friends.  Beyond their passion for animals, James and Sue also enjoy cooking together using the bounty from Sonoma Valley's farmers and share a deep appreciation for visual arts.
