Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I am inspired by our community and honored to be a part of preparing our students for the future, which is why I have re-filed for a position on the Board.

Being on the school board requires a significant investment of time and I have spent the last five years working on academic progress, classroom engagement, student opportunities, teacher and staff support, advocacy for public education, sound budget practices, safety issues, increased transparency and communication, all leading up to planning for our current students moving toward their future and leaving a foundation for future students to achieve their lifelong goals.

IUSD is a destination district; people move here for the schools and this district is growing in enrollment every year. We have the highest test scores in the county, and in 2018, 2015 and 2014 our high school received the prestigious Honor Roll Star School by California Business for Education Excellence Foundation award.

As we continue to grow I promise to use my experience and expertise to continue moving our community toward a bright future. My focus is on

addressing needs and finding solutions (which includes working with our parents and community partners) to improve our childrens’ educational experience and making education a priority.

I pledge my continued integrity and dedication to you and humbly ask for your support and most importantly, YOUR VOTE on Nov. 6 to continue to be part of the Imperial Unified School District School Board leadership team.

Position Papers

It's about Four Thousand two hundred and fifty school children!

Summary

Why am I running for re-election to the Imperial Unified School District Board?

I am running for re-election to impact the hearts and minds of our future. In short, it can be summed up into six words: four thousand two hundred fifty schoolchildren.   Why me?

  • Over the past five years, I have demonstrated a deep passion for and commitment to the education of all IUSD students.
  • I was instrumental in increasing transparency by pushing for meeting agendas and district policy and procedures to be posted online.
  • I bring the experience, knowledge and training necessary to lead our district.
  • I am passionate about ensuring that ALL of our children get the best possible start in life.
  • I’ve demonstrated the leadership ability to make the tough decisions.
  • While the past four years have been difficult for public education in the State of California, the education of students in our District has continued to improve and excel.
  • Employee morale has vastly improved with the hiring of our intelligent, highly regarded professional management team of a new Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent and Business Manager.

I was elected to the IUSD Board of Trustees in 2013 and served as President for the 2016–2017 school year. I am inspired by our community and honored to be a part of preparing our students for the future, which is why I have re-filed for a position on the Board.
