October 2018
Hello!
My name is Mike Adams and I am a Trustee on our Valley Center-Pauma School Board.
I’m running again for election and would like your vote.
My wife Eileen and I have deep roots in Valley Center and have lived here over 35 years. We raised our children here. We believe in public education. We believe our school district is blessed with many talented and dedicated teachers, employees, and administrators. We’ve known many of them for years and have the utmost respect for their skills and dedication.
While serving on our Board of Trustees, I initiated and championed personal financial literacy training for our students that will be implemented this fall. High school graduates often fall victim to large credit card debt and huge student loan debt right out of school. That’s a tragedy! Now, Valley Center-Pauma USD will teach personal financial literacy. Our students need victory, NOT victimhood in their personal finances.
Additionally, during the 2017-18 school year, my wife and I organized community volunteers to come into our elementary school and read alongside our students. The volunteers spent hundreds of hours helping our young elementary students become better readers.
Valley Center-Pauma district has over five hundred employees and an annual operating budget in excess of forty-six million dollars. In other words, our school district is a large and complex organization. Fortunately, I have experience administrating large and complex organizations and budgets.
My academic credentials include advanced degrees in Civil Engineering and Public Administration. After serving as a Commissioned officer in the Coast and Geodetic Survey, I enjoyed a long career with the City of Escondido where I served as the City Engineer, and ultimately as the Assistant City Manager. In these various capacities, I’ve exercised responsibility over millions of dollars in city budgets and hundreds of employees.
In recent years, I’ve served as the business administrator for Valley Center Community Church, a director for VC Rotary, and taught art classes at our public library.
Please vote for me. I’m committed to continue to work tirelessly for our children, our school district, and our community.
Thanks again,
