Our family moved to Carmel Valley in 2000 for the Solana Beach School District Schools and our son and daughter attended our amazing schools.  I started volunteering in classrooms, became PTA President of Carmel Creek Elementary, Foundation Co-President of Solana Pacific, and a Site Council Member of Carmel Creek.  Twelve years ago I ran for the Solana Beach School Board and have served on The Board ever since.  I am running for re-election because I believe in public service and public education, and am committed to our community, schools and doing what's best for kids.

I am also an attorney, small business owner, and executive and career coach.  During my time on the board,  I have been a champion for many progams, including our innovative, healthy and nutritious Child Nutrition Program, our award winning STREAM program, scholarships for preschool students, as well as our newer focus on social and emotional wellness.

I was board president when voters passed Measure JJ, our first ever general obligation bond.  I am grateful for the overwhelming community support for the bond, allowing for modernization of all facilities.  I have worked collaboratively with superintendents, board members, teachers, staff and community members during financially challenging times as well as during times of greater abundance.

As a member the California School Board Association, I  work collaboratively with state legislators on issues affecting public education.  I have served our community on the Carmel Valley Recreation Council, was a 12 year Girl Scout Leader and elected as a Girl Scout San Diego-Imperial County Delegate.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

As a parent who moved to the Solana Beach School District for the schools, I know how important our schools are to the community.  I will continue to work to keep our schools excellent by attracting and retaining our exceptional and dedicated teachers and staff, prioritizing small class size, nurturing innovative prgrams, and preserving fiscal responsibility.  As a career coach and mother of 2 kids who went through our schools and onto college, I see the skills students need to be successful.  Students benefit most when they have a combination of academic knowledge and skills like knowing how to build relationships, giving and receiving feedback, critical thinking, and learning what it takes to be a leader.  I will work to provide our students with this combination of skills so that they are prepared to be our next genration leaders.  And I will make tough decisions centered in what matters most:  what is best for our kids.
