I am no stranger to water districts and how they work. As a 15-year employee of the East Bay Municipal Utility District in Oakland, California, which services over 1.3 million people in the East Bay of San Francisco, I gained in-depth knowledge of how a large water delivery system works. After moving to Cameron Park four years ago to be closer to family, I was stunned when I received my first water/wastewater bill.

I was shocked at the size of my bill,  I immediately had my property audited to make sure there were no leaks, but it didn’t take me long to realize that the price of water and wastewater in El Dorado County was more expensive than even I imagined.  Because of my lengthy background at EBMUD, I made it a point to attend meetings of the El Dorado County irrigation District to see if  I could learn more about the process up here.

My early experience in Human Resources gave me an understanding of the value of retaining employees and improving customer service.  My second career in Information Technology lasted nearly 30 years. When I semi-retired in 2002, I created and started my own small business called Funnygate Technologies, an IT consulting business.

While employed with EBMUD, I also served first on the School Board and then the City Council in the City of Pittsburg, California. I was an active member of the League of Cities and was a sitting member of the Tri-Delta Transportation Board.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Consensus building and goal setting at the Board level are powerful tools.  It's time to bring someone on who has done that and who is willing to bring new ideas to the board room.

I served nearly 14 years as an elected official. I know what it takes to do consensus building with others.
Proven leadership is needed, along with increased
transparency and communication to the public.  This will only help this agency be better stewards for the ratepayers.  I will always listen.
