I have been a resident of Jurupa Valley for 22 years. My three children attended and graduated from Jurupa Unified School District and my two grandchildren currently attend the Dual Immersion Program in the district.
As a parent in the district, I was a part of PTA from 1998 thru 2005 at two schools and the district level. I was PTA President at Camino Real, Jurupa Middle School, and for the 23rd District overseeing all PTA's in the JUSD. I was also part of School Site Council at Camino Real, Jurupa Middle and Patriot High School. I served as Patriot HS Cheer Booster President for two years and was team mom for soccer teams and basketball teams.
I have many successes to recall, but perhaps the most special to me is when I was able to obtain a $25,000 grant from the district to have an after school theater program open to all JUSD students in the 4th thru 6th grades. I still have the performance on tape and remember it fondly.
I was a member of the school board from 2006 - 2010, serving as President from 2008 - 2009. A leader in every organization I was a part of.
As a board member, I learned the responsibilities of the board and while it seems these responsibilities have been abdicated by the board over the years, I want to return the district to board leadership. This is what you vote for. Board members are elected to serve their constituents and set the vision for the district.
We need change in the district and I can help with that change.
