Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de The League of Women Voters of California Education Fund and California Counts, a public media collaboration. (4)

Should immigration laws be changed?  What changes would you support?  Please explain why.
Respuesta de Patrea Patrick:

Yes. We need immigration Reform. We need stronger boarder control to screen terrorists but allow those who are here with good intention to stay as long as they do it legally. Our borders are very important and we need to secure them. We need to streamline the system to make it more efficient to allow people with valuable skills to come to this country while still protecting us from potential terrorists.

The political climate in Washington, D.C. has been extremely partisan in recent years. In that kind of atmosphere, what would you do to get things done while in office?
Respuesta de Patrea Patrick:
I have made many friends across the table in Washington. This is a very difficult issues that both parties need to address. I'm certainly aware that atmosphere is what I'll be facing. The constituents voice MUST be heard before party politics and I will work together for the common good of my district. I will work across the board to promote bipartisan solutions. “I believe...We the People DEMAND Transparency in Government! We the People CHOOSE to have politicians who WILL NOT be bought! We the People STATE Corruption must stop NOW! Congress is the people’s house which must only pursue the people’s agenda. We must commit to protect the Environment. We must commit to protect the rights of ALL citizens. We The People COMMIT to working together. It will be my honor to be YOUR Congresswoman to represent YOU”
What, if anything, does the U.S. need to do in order to address national security and terrorism? Please explain your answer in detail.
Respuesta de Patrea Patrick:

The number one vulnerability in National Security is our nation's Electrical Grid. It is a crumbling infrastructure that needs to be protected. For without it we cannot move forward on any other issue. It is susceptible to Terrorism, Cyber Attack, EMP strikes (Electromagnitic Pulse),that can knock out the entire GRID, physical attacks, and natural threats. In creating a smart grid we have made the grid more vulnerable!  We must consider alternatives to protect the grid. Our current 17 infrastructures all rely on the Electric grid. From water to transportation to communications, banking, police, fire, military and hospitals.

The Federal Government plays a part in California water allocation and use through a variety of laws.  What, if any, legislation would you support in an effort to handle water shortages caused by the current and any future drought?
Respuesta de Patrea Patrick:

There are available systems of water capture and grey-water systems to collect and save water when it rains for use during the year. New technology exists for this purpose. We must force the current water companies to use and develop these new ways of water capture that 'aren’t' expensive for the consumer. This is an easy fix. This, of all our problems, is something that can be done fast and can make make our state sustainable. I've dedicated a lot time and research to water sustainability.

We face a ression and a country in need of jobs and in need of repair.

Summary

Congress is in a catch 22 they because they have been so bought by special interest they are not effectve in voicing the needs of the comunities or our Environment. We need to bring Jobs to the valley through a criticialinfrastructure repair program, as FDR once did that will take us out of this spiral.

Our district needs an influx of jobs. FDR created a secure and strong workforce to
combat the Depression. If we start protecting our Electric Grid a variety of new jobs will be
created on every level from management to contractors to highly technical to unskilled labor. The transformers we need for the
grid are all built overseas. We need to bring this industry back to America and the San Fernando
Valley is the perfect place to do this work. Also we need to get the Motion Picture Film Industry
back here where it belongs. We need to create a favorable climate for the Studios to work here
again. What is needed is tax credits and incentives to keep our work from being shipped overseas. In
regards to that I think that any American company who ships their work overseas should be
charged a huge import tariff on their products. We need to get America back into the
manufacturing business that once made us the envy of all.

Environment

JFK said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your
country. We must not neglect our environment. We are undergoing a record drought in our
state and we need to apply ourselves to conserving and collecting water. We must stop the
rape of the planet. It is our home. We must get off fossil fuels and in to renewable energy. These are subjects I have been talking about for years as featured in my documentary film AMERICAN EMPIRE. The environment must not suffer because the millionaire's in Congress is putting corporate profit above preserving our resources.
