Biografía

A long time Contra Costa County activist, Joey has served on the Task Force on Workplace Violence Prevention; Sorotimist International, Richmond; and as a Delegate for the Central Labor Council AFL-CIO (Contra Costa). She represents District 1 on the Contra Costa Commission for Women (2013 -present). Joey has served on the Executive Board of the Richmond/Contra Costa County Chapter of Black Women Organized for Political Action since 2005.

In 2012, Joey was one rank short of being voted in as a National Delegate for the Presidential nomination. Undeterred, she continued her efforts to support the Democratic Presidential candidate and subsequently participated in local and regional campaign canvasing (including Nevada) for the Democratic Party. Joey also began her activity with the Contra Costa Democratic Central Committee as an associate member and alternate for elected members.  Soon after, she was appointed as a Delegate to the California Democratic Party, and continues to represent District 1 currently.
