What experience related to city government would you bring to the City Council?

I have over 30 years experience in management in the private sector, a successful business owner for 6 years as well and serve on the City of San Jose's City Advisory Commission. My community involvement and my colloborative style will bring a fresh perspective to City Hall. 

San Jose budget difficulties have resulted in unprecedented cuts to staff and services. How will you deal with coming shortfalls? Restoring some of the City services? And, if you think the City needs additional resources, what are your ideas for increasing revenues?

More transparancy is needed; explore Zero Based budgeting where it makes sense.  Look at current hiring practices, outsource when it is apporpriate. 

Q3. What concerns are of particular importance to the city and how would you address them?

How would you balance the needs of the City as a whole while also addressing needs of your district as well as those of special groups?

More community outreach is needed, work with other districts for common goals 

How much money do you expect to raise/spend on your race, and how will you assure voters that financial contributions will not affect your decisions/positions should you be elected?

Have raised over $50k.   The people supporting me know that I have their best interests in mind and will make the best decisions for them and the City.

I have long been an active member of the Evergreen community, having spearheaded neighborhood involvement in the reversal of Evergreen Valley High School’s boundary determination as well as serving as a key member of the “Involved Evergreen” neighborhood association. As a single mother of two children, building a strong community for future generations has always been important to me, and running for Council is an opportunity for me to take that public service to the next level.


I think the most important quality that distinguishes me from my competitors, however, is consistency. I have always believed that government works best when it supports its small businesses and practices fiscal responsibility. My positions come from my core values; they aren’t something I alter for political expediency.
