Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Affordability/City Services San Franciscans must be able to take care of their families through sustainable jobs that afford health care, child care, shelter and a quality of life.
  • We are struggling with housing and homeless issues. For both renters and home buyers, housing is less overpriced and residents are being pushed out of the City. We must preserve rent control, and halt evictions-for-profit.
  • We all ride Muni and BART to work, and deserve to live in a transit-friendly environment. I will continue to demand that Muni be accountable to its rider ship and provide service that is efficient, timely and reliable.

I authored the Children’s Budget, my legislation founded the Youth Commission and several health ordinances for women like immune system and chronic fatigue syndrome. They thought I was crazy when I proposed that we did not have to live with second-hand smoke. Now it has become excepted practice all over the world.

I have private business experience, not merely public sector experience. When I left the Board of Supervisors in January 1997, and after my husband died, I became the sole source of revenue for my family. I know what it is like to start over. I know what it is like to stand alone.  I returned to practicing law with my father, former Mayor Joseph L. Alioto, at a time when he was very sick. I established the Law Offices of Mayor Joseph L. Alioto and Angela Alioto. For almost 20 years now, I have run a very successful law practice, specializing in anti-discrimination law representing working people. I have brought successful law suits against some of the largest corporations in America. I’m especially proud to the countless gender lawsuits I have led. My office gets enumerable calls for help from women who encounter the glass ceiling. We still have a long way to go.

I have been honored to be nominated as the National Trial Lawyer of the Year and have been named one of the top 30 women attorneys in the State of California.

Today the Democratic Party needs an independent voice, not owned by the political bosses nor subject to the factions of the day -- straight form the heart -- to stand up for San Francisco values..

Filosofía política

As Democrats and as women, mothers and grandmothers, we have been through many battles together, Civil Rights, poverty, MBE legislation, AIDS legislation, open government, budget issues, health care, environment, civil liberties, immigration, public power, sunshine—so many, that I cannot list them. I am grateful for the kind of activism the League of Women Voters stands for and I know I can count on this organization to continue the progressive movement in San Francisco.  I’m proud of the many San Franciscans who have supported me throughout my career on many occasions and look forward to a close relationship with the League as a member of the DCCC.
