Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Protect Public Safety - Prioritize community policing to deter crime, improve response times, provide resources to keep trained officers and firefighters from leaving us.
  • Address Homelessness - Chris will expand proven cost-effective housing and programs to reduce homelessness and impacts on neighborhoods.
  • Neighborhood Infrastructure Over Stadium Subsidies - Chris will focus on our communities’ multi-billion dollar backlog of failing streets, sidewalks, parks, libraries, water and sewer lines, and needs of Balboa Park.

Chris serves as the Chief of Staff to State Senator Marty Block, representing the communities of the Third City Council District and most of the City of San Diego.  In this capacity, Chris is strongly committed to excellence in constituent services, facilitating public participation in policymaking, and organizing state and local resources to make our neighborhoods a better place every day.

Previously, Chris was an environmental planner at the firm EDAW, working with local government to develop land use plans and conduct environmental review to help create inclusive, community-based solutions to neighborhood challenges and organize strategies to achieve long-term goals. Chris will draw from these experiences to help the city implement smarter visions for our urban neighborhoods.  Before dedicating a career to public service, Chris worked as a researcher at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at UCSD on the front lines of San Diego’s burgeoning biotech sector and contributed firsthand to the critical value these innovators offer.

Throughout his career, Chris has remained committed to giving back to his community through volunteer service.  He was elected by his neighbors to serve on his community planning group to advise the City of San Diego on urban planning and neighborhood development issues.  He was appointed to the San Diego Community College District’s Citizens Oversight Committee, providing fiscal review and guidance for the next generation of education facilities, including City College, and making sure public dollars are prudently managed.  Chris is a member of the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation board of directors facilitating endowments and providing philanthropy for LGBT Youth, HIV/AIDS, senior and other nonprofit organizations as well as a member of the San Diego LGBT Center Board of Directors.  He serves on the San Diego GLBT Historic Task Force and has volunteered with a number of other organizations. Chris was recently recognized as the Community Leader of the Year by the Greater San Diego Business Association, one of San Diego’s 40 Under 40 by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine, one of Our City San Diego’s 21 Future Leaders, the San Diego County Democratic Party’s Volunteer of the Year, and was accepted in the Truman National Security Project Class of 2015 Partners.

Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Johns Hopkins University and a Masters in Public Policy and Urban Planning at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.  He and his partner Thom are homeowners in University Heights with their baby daughter, Betty and their cairn terrier, Monty.
