As a judge, I am bound to follow California State law. However, I do favor alternative sentencing for non-violent offenders in the form of drug and mental health treatment programs. I believe this is the future direction of the criminal justice system in California.

After 25 years as a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, I am seeking to become a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge to ensure that the laws of the US Constitution and of the State of California are upheld and administered fairly regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, gender or identification of the parties that appear before me.
I spent 3 years prosecuting hardcore gang murder cases, 20 years prosecuting child sexual abuse, human trafficking, domestic violence assault and homicide cases and 2 years prosecuting white-collar criminals. I have the professional background and experience to work to protect public safety and restore integrity in the criminal justice system.
As a Latina female, I feel the Los Angeles County Superior Court should reflect the strength and diversity of the local and state-wide citizenry.

Biografía
- LA County Deputy District Attorney for 29 years
- Prosecutor in Career Criminal, Hardcore Gang and Special Trials units
- Tried 219 felony jury trials; 81 were murder trials
- Endorsed by formed District Attorney Steve Cooley and over 30 Superior Court Judges
After graduating from University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelors in Political Science and getting a law degree from the University of Santa Clara, I worked as a Legal Aide for the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s office doing intake interviews in the jails. This experience provided me with an insight into the minds of hundreds of criminal defendants I would not otherwise have had.
My career as an attorney has been with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. I spent my first ten months with the District Attorney’s office in the Newhall branch in 1987-1988 and tried twenty-three misdemeanors jury trials during that time period.
When I was transferred to the Long Beach branch the following year, I began to do felony jury trials. Approximately a year and half later, I was invited to join the Career Criminal Unit. For the next six year, I prosecuted felons with prior serious or violent felony convictions facing new violent felonies. I was the lone trial deputy assigned to the Career Criminal Unit at the Long Beach branch, and I tried approximately 100 felonies while a member of that unit.
Shortly, after I completed my term in the Career Criminal Unit in 1995, I began my assignment in the Hardcore Gang Unit. For the next six years, I tried Gang murders in the Long Beach and Torrance branches. I tried 49 Gang murder cases to juries during this assignment.
In 2001, I was moved from Long Beach to Torrance where I worked for the next seven years as a calendar deputy in Judge Kauffman’s court. I continued to do felony trials as my calendar assignment allowed. As a calendar deputy I handled all felony cases in that courtroom. In 2008, I tried the capital case of People v. Barry Mosely. Mosely was convicted of raping, sodomizing, and strangling three women, as well as an 8 year old girl.
After completing, the Mosely case, I was transferred to the Long Beach branch where I began an assignment as a Special Trials deputy that took me through 2013. Since that assignment, I have continued to do specially assigned trials in the Norwalk branch.
During my 29 years in the District Attorney’s office, I have tried 23 misdemeanor and 219 felony jury trials. 81 of the 219 felony jury trials were murder cases, at least 60 of which were gang cases. Because of my vast experience in this area, I continued to be assigned gang related murder cases. In the last 6 months, I tried three more gang murder cases and I have 3 others coming up at this time.
I realized 219 is a high number of trials for that reason I have listed all my felony jury trials along with the case numbers, charges, verdicts, and verdict dates on my website; http://schreinerforjudge.com. The vast experience I possess has given me the legal knowledge and expertise, along with my judgment, decisiveness, and integrity to capably perform the job of a Superior Court Judge.

Yes, I am in favor of alternative sentences for non-violent offenders. These options should include probation, diversion, educational and treatment programs.
