Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de The League of Women Voters of Los Angeles County ILO (1)

Do you favor alternative, non-jail sentences for non-violent offenders and what options should be available?
Respuesta de Efrain Matthew Aceves:

I believe that non-violent offenders and first time offenders should have the opportunity to pay their debt to society without being saddled lifetime consequences that makes it difficult for them to become productive members of society.  Our prisons should be a place for violent offenders.  We cannot afford to continue to pay the high price of prison incarceration for low level offenders.  Programs that address the needs of our veterans, the mentally ill and the youth need to be available throughout the entire county.  Specifically, a program entitled Court to College Program available to young non-violent offenders available at the Norwalk Courthouse where I am assigned, is the type of program that needs to be emulated and made widely available
