Biografía

I am renter in the City of Berkeley and I also work full time as property manager at Premium Properties in Oakland. I am running to become commissioner on the Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board. I have served in a wide variety of roles as a provider of housing in the city I call home. I bring with my experience an aspiration to serve the public in the complex relationships between tenants and landlords in the unique atmosphere found in the City of Berkeley. I wish to provide quality service to my community from a perspective that clearly understands both of sides of the table when it comes to tenants and landlord communication. I believe the relationship between both parties can be a good one, with transparent and fair practices available to both.

My birthplace is Oakland California. I am a true Bay Area native and grew up in Berkeley.  I attended primary schools at Whittier, Jefferson Elementary school, and then attended Harding school in El Cerrito. I went on to attend junior high school in Albany and graduated high school in that district. As a young person, I attended the multi-media program at Berkeley City College (then Vista Community College) where I attained my AA degree and transfer courses to prepare for my four-year degree. I was a student counselor for a time, helping the EOPS program with administrative duties. I very much enjoyed helping the community and meeting many of the students on a daily basis. I have done volunteer work at Berkeley Senior Center and have participated in canned food drives with my employer to help my local community here in the City of

Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de League of Women Voters—Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville (2)

If you are elected, what would you like to achieve during your term in office?
Respuesta de Nate Wollman:

I look forward to serving the public with integrity, transparency and attention to detail. I hope to help tenants and landlords work together for amicable solutions and provide service to both parties while I am in office.

What do you consider the most important issue facing the Rent Control Board?
Respuesta de Nate Wollman:

I believe the Rent Control Board faces challenges in providing equal consideration for housing providers and tenants. The rent board should be a place where real world and common sense solutions are available to parties seeking assitance without bias.

Creencias poliza

Filosofía política

As a commissioner I will put forward my good faith efforts into the much needed improvements to tenant/ landlord relations. I will work to gain the understanding and trust of my constituents in order to serve my community without bias. The rent stabilization board is a forum for many viewpoints in the city's sphere. I hope to serve my community with valuable insight and integrity as I have done in my career. I consider myself a true progessive in the sense that I am always willing to look at solutions to a problem with consideration for all parties involved. Sometimes you run into people that have very different opinions on a given issue and it's then that learning about them and working with them can bring two sides together to get things done.
