Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Protect our students and staff by ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment.
  • Attend to the continuing implementation of a strategic plan to constantly improve the education and success of Santa Paula students throughout the district.
  • Assure that families and their children receive the best services possible through the local unified schools.

After teaching in Santa Paula for thirty-five years, I believe I have the experience and perspective to be an asset to the school board, since there currently is no one on the board with teaching experience.  I have lived in Santa Paula for forty-one years, been married for forty-five years to Kenneth Thompson, have one daughter Kacey Addison, son-in-law Josh, and two wonderful grandsons Zack and Brody.  During my time in Santa Paula I have always made children and young people a priority by volunteering in my community and at church.  I graduated from UCSB with a B.A.  in English and earned my California B-Clad Teaching Credential, which is still active, at National University.  I taught for sixteen years at John Jenkins Christian Academy and nineteen years at Santa Paula High School (one of those years was as a substitute). I loved teaching and believe it is one of the most important careers a person can choose.  I enjoyed being with the wonderful students who came through my classes and learned great lessons from those who were difficult.  I know I can bring that expertise to the school board, if elected.

Filosofía política

I believe every child or young person has the right to a free and appropriate education taught by a teacher who cares about them and a support staff whose primary concern is for their welfare. Every person involved in a child's education should be focused on the success of the students and the board members should make sure that funds are spent on what we need for that student, not what we want.  Because money is so difficult to obtain and there are not enough funds to spend on everything we would want for our schools and students, we have to be very careful that any money spent is going first for the students.
