Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • After years of experience at Abernathy's in Walnut Creek hiring live rock and roll nightly, I would love to bring my expertise to Concerts in the Grove so that it may continue to flourish.
  • Take an idea from Concord. Locate merchants with with 1 or 2 successful locations and entice them to open a new location in Clayton with tax incentives & the help of the Contra Costa Association of Realtors.
  • With the help of the CBCA create a council to help new merchants with advice on inspectors, expected bills, costs and licenses. Then get the word out that we have this service.

Background and goals of Allen Lampo

Summary

Background and goals of Allen Lampo

It is an honor to run for Clayton City Council.  There are many reasons to support me in this endeavor, but it mainly comes down to my past experience and a desire to do more..  In the past I have been an assistant scout master for the Clayton Boy Scout Troop 444, announced for the Dana Hills Swim Team (my kids swam for over 9 years), volunteered for Clayton Cleans Up, Clayton Art and Wine Festival, fund raising for Saint Bonaventure Catholic Church, photography and other assistance for the Clayton Valley Charter High School Music Boosters, relay for life  "Team Christy (Harris)", 10 years on the Dana Ridge Homeowner's Association Board, and as a financial advisor with John Hancock I had a monthly article in the Clayton Pioneer.

The small town feel, bumping into friends whenever you go out, and the joy of the 4th of July parade are just a few of the reasons Lisa, my wife of 26 years, and I love our beautiful community.  Residing here in the shadow of Mount Diablo for the past 20 years, we have raised 2 amazing children, Tony and Alexis.  Tony has done 4 years at UC Riverside and Alexis is a junior at UCLA.  We are very proud of them even if they didn't go to Cal Berkeley like Lisa and myself, where I studied 4 years of Chemical Engineering.

I feel it is time for a fresh perspective and to bring new blood into our City Council.  For many years we have been trying to develop downtown with new merchants.  Very little has happened in that time.  There is a proposal being investigated, but I have other ideas.  Let's take a lesson from Concord.  Did you know that most new businesses, especially restaurants, fail in the first year?  Like Concord, I suggest we create a council with the support of the CBCA that would help new businesses in how to get started, i.e. licenses, expected bills, inspectors expectations etc, and put the word out that we provide this service.

Secondly, on the same lines, I have been in contact with the Contra Costa Association of Realtors.  I have told them what we want, and would like to recruit them for phase 2 of my plan.  Look for a developer willing to search out successful business people that have one or two locations and entice them to open a small location in Clayton.  I would like to look into tax incentives and building to their specifications.  A realtor in Concord did this for a family friend and he moved his restaurant,  El Morocco, with wonderful results.

Lastly, the Concerts in the Grove have been a great success.  I have years of experience running night clubs and at Abernathy's in Walnut Creek we had live rock and roll every night. I have hired top bands such as The Fundamentals, Train and Starship as well as other local bands.  I would love to bring my expertise to this activity and help it flourish as it has in the past.

After enjoying all the benefits of living in Clayton, thank you for this opportunity to give back by serving on our City Council.
