Experiencia

Biografía

I have a law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law. I am currently studying for the California Bar exam.  While in law school I was an officer in several clubs including the Public Interest Law Foundation which is devoted to public interest advocacy via social justice lawyering, equal access to the law, and the empowerment of marginalized and underrepresented communities.  I earned specialization certificates in public interest, litigation and criminal law.

I also volunteered for over a decade with the Boy Scouts, as a leader, trainer and merit badge counselor.  I taught among other things environmental stewardship and was awarded the district award of merit.

Prior to my recent marriage I was self employed and can understand the issues facing small business owners and appreciate the benefits and protection of belonging to a Union.

My husband has Parkinson's and I assist him as needed.  I myself am a breast cancer survivor.  Thus, I very much support health care for everyone.

Filosofía política

The reason I went to law school is because I believe in making a measurable difference and being an outspoken voice for those people and issues that need one. Often that means I take a deep breath and step forward and say, I will serve or I will fight for someone or something.  It is not always a comfortable position to be in, but I continue to do so.

Why?  Because in my soul I believe we all have a responsibility to help each other, protect each other and protect our planet.  It can be simple things like walking a few extra steps to put a plastic bottle into a recycling container, saving your change to put into a mite box at church, supporting a cause, or writing a check because you don't have time but you have a few extra dollars, or opening the door for someone.  These selfless acts all add up, it makes a difference.  We are all together on this planet and we all have the capacity to contribute.

That is why I am running in this election.  It is not a comfortable thing to do, but it is an important thing to do. That is why I am stepping up.

Why?  Because there is going to be millions of dollars spent in our little district, dollars the ratepayers will be obligated to pay back via rate increases.  They should have a voice in how that money is spent.  The employees deserve fair and reason benefits and compensation.  The environment needs passionate and engaged stewardship. Finally, because I am a woman and we need more female viewpoints to be a fair representation of our community.
