Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Ensuring that each student has access to equitable educational opportunities and enrichment programs district wide.
  • Providing teachers and students with the tools they need to succeed.
  • Striving for equity and inclusion for all members of our community.

Profesión:Public Sector IT Professional
Principal Systems Analyst, County of Marin (2002–current)

My 15 years as a county employee has given me an in depth knowledge of budgeting in a public organization. My current work as a computer systems analyst for the financial system at the County of Marin has broadened my depth of knowledge in budget, finance and leadership.

I have two children currently enrolled in the Old Adobe School District and served last year as the PTA Secretary at their school. I have a passion for our schools and I know my knowledge and experience will serve to benefit all the OASD schools. I look forward to aiding the mission of our board in helping all of our students achieve “Excellence for Learning”.

Preguntas de League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Respuesta de Heather Burton:

I beleve that transparency is the key.  I would suggest conducting workshops durring budget development, mid-year and year-end to discuss how money was allocated and the resutls of the spending.  I would work to create some key metrix to determine the overall success of various district wide programs.
