Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Maintain a fiscally strong school district.I would prefer a contentious board to a complacent board.
  • Life is like a coin you can spend it anyway you choose but you can only spend it once. Students must learn to think critically and chose wisely.
  • Maintain high standards for all students. Never mistake activity for learning.

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools. What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Respuesta de John Rajcic:

The budget singularly is the most important policy statement made by the board. It translates the education- program into dollars. It also determines whose values prevail. The budget is the ultimate  local control funding plan. The questions is how are standards met and measured. The state finance program allocates more money to targeted students. Those students are identified as English Language Learners, Mirgrant worker-students, Foster home-students and low income students. I have no argument with this funding scheme other than there are many non-targeted students that function in the lower quartile  who, as a rule. do not recieve additional funding. If funding makes a differences, the LCFF(Local Control Funding Formula) would tend to cause regression to the mean.  I believe in equity throughout the entire school system.  Additionally it should be noted,  if students are "targeted" by funding, there may be a tendency to "paint" all these students as underachievers from the get go.  I know many students that are in the" targeted" area that are brilliant but are given school work that is not challanging to them , under the assumptions that are specious at best. Outcomes are measured by student performance on state tests as they relate to the district's 7 goals and teacher judgement  relative to the District LCAP( Local Control Accountability Plan).

What is the most significant challenge facing the Ramona Unified School District, and if you are elected, what steps will you take to address it?
Respuesta de John Rajcic:

Ramona has capacity for over 8500 students and declining enrollment of 5,600 student. Closing schools is inevitable regardless of the difficulty.

The high school does not have a debate teamor newspaper. "Push" to accomplish same.

Music is lacking in many elementary classrooms... will continue to suggest non-credentialed- musicians assist teachers. Many musicians have evening gigs and are available during the day. This would be cost effective. Will strive to enhance technical-vocational programs(Indusrial arts classes)

Creencias poliza

Filosofía política

My personal philosophy is anchored in optimism . The Ramona Board is nonpartisian.  All life has equal value and equity must prevail throught the school system. The budget, singularly, is the most important policy statement made by the board. The budget translates the education-program into dollars. Frugality and a fiscally strong district are basic. The budget is a political document in that it indicates whose values prevail.  Buldings and equipment as important as they may be are not the constants that make the significance difference, it is the teacher. The principal is  responsible for maintaining a school culture that is conducive to learning. The classified staff is important to a well managed school. Long range planning does not deal with future decisions but with the future of present decisions. I would prefer a contentious board to a complacent board.
