Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Keep our school districts budget balanced and always be proactive as to see pitfalls in the states future funding.
  • To bring a 21st century curriculum to our district so our children will be prepared for the challenges that they will face.
  • Provide professional devepment for all our teachers and staff so they might be better prepared for their duties while at school.

Honorary Co-Mayor of Alpine 2016, Alpine Mtn. Empire Chamber of Commerce (2016–current)
Chamber of Commerce Director, Alpine Mtn. Empire Chamber of Commerce (2015–current)

My wife Leslie and I moved to Alpine 17 years ago. We knew Alpine was a special place to live and our children, Taryn and Jacob, have benefited from the education received in Alpine schools. Four years ago, you elected me to serve on the Board of Alpine Union School District. It was a great honor, and I have made it one of my highest priorities to reward your trust.

The past four years have not been easy. But as a Board we have taken a district that was in the "red" and put it solidly in the "black". We have made the hard choices and have been rewarded with more innovative programs for our students, as demanded by the challanges of the 21st century; and we are proud of achieving better relations with our teachers and staff.

My experience as a small business owner for 33 years has given me useful skills in assessing the financial needs of our district, and the need to set proirities. Our children must always be the "TOP PRIORITY". I will always put our children first and be a good steward of your tax dollars.

I understand the challenges that parents, teachers and staff face on a daily basis-- my wife and I have faced them. I pledge to always keep an open mind and to stay objective. I will always carefully evaluate what will serve our children. I would be honored to have your vote again. Please call if you have any questions about my campaign. (619)659-8188

Preguntas de League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools. What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Respuesta de Joseph P. Perricone:

The law that this refers to is Local Control Funding Formula of LCFF. Our district has a LCAP Local Control and Accountability Plan which is reviewed annually and updated so that our parents and tax payers in our community understand the why, what and where of how the money of our district is given by the state is spent. Also the board with the superintendent review the programs at the end of each year to see if they are benefitting our kids and how to make them better.

What is the most significant challenge facing the Alpine Union School District, and if you are elected, what steps will you take to address it?
Respuesta de Joseph P. Perricone:

One of the biggest challenges that are district has is keeping pace with salaries that other districts give there employees. LCFF  has not been kind to our disrict as we don't have many english second learners or low performing children. Our challenge is how to attract quality teachers and staff as they retire when surrounding districts can pay more for their services. Our superintendent and the board are committed to do our best to attract great employees to our district dispite the funding challenges.

Creencias poliza

Filosofía política

My political philosophy is a simple one;

1.) Politics should have no place in a school board meeting its about the kids period.

2.) Do your homework on the issues at hand and listen carefully to whats presented.

3.) Be mindful of who you represent the parents, children and the tax payers.

4.) Keep an open mind it will always serve you well.
