We are ready for a change in the city of Oceanside. For too long, our City Council has been paralyzed by politics, bickering, and dysfunction. We have witnessed Washington DC grind to a halt as the result of a culture of toxic politics. Oceanside cannot afford to watch as our local government does the same. This election, more than anything, is about choices: the choice to stick with the status quo or the choice to reject the culture of gridlock and dysfunction on our CIty Council. I'm ready to fight for change and get our local government back to work for the people of Oceanside. I am asking you to join me to make our city work.
We face some serious challenges here in Oceanside: lack of local jobs and housing, unemployment, environmental threats, homelessness, diminishing services, crime, and drug addiction. We need a City Council that is up to the task of addressing OUR needs and challenges. We need to stand united against the adversity that our great city faces so that we can move forward, rather than getting bogged down in personal agendas, partisan politics, and back biting.
The Oceanside City Council needs to to stand united with community partners. My experience as a former Police Officer, School Superintendent, and Chief Executive Officer of a Non-Profit has prepared me to be effective in the fight for change. I can make quality decisions while maintaining positive, civil relationships with others. We need to move Oceanside forward. We need to rebuild the trust of the people in the integrity of our council as a body that can put politics aside and do what is best for the people. We need someone who can build bridges, rather than burn them. Someone who can bring the council together rather than tearing it apart through polarized alliances. We need a new voice, a new way of doing things, and a change to politics as usual.
As your city councilperson, I will make one pledge to you, and that is to keep your best interests in my heart during every decision that I make on the council. We cannot afford to have politics come first at the expense of the people. We can’t afford to see our political process continue to break down. This election is about moving Oceanside forward and I would be honored to have your vote on November 8th. Please join me and together we can give Oceanside the bright future that it deserves.
My goals call for: smart planning while sustaining rent control and housing for Seniors; prioritized resources to improve public safety; conservation of open spaces, our harbor, and the beaches; and support and help to start-ups, businesses and economic partners. Our citizens and constituents need to trust that elected officials will put politics aside and keep the needs of our community first. I am running to serve Oceanside, not divide.
