Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Improve the City planning process by amending the municipal code to allow for the City to create a separate the planning commission made of experts and professionals appointed by the City Council.
  • Fiscal responsibility by closely monitoring the City budget and maintaining a budget surplus while maintaining public safety and other City services to residents.
  • Increased transparency in City government and providing more opportunity for community member involvement including amending the muncipal code to provide for term limits for councilmembers.

Preguntas de League of Women Voters of San Diego (1)

What is the most significant challenge facing the City of Poway, and if you are elected, what steps will you take to address it?
Respuesta de Amy Romaker:

The most significant challenge facing Poway is planned growth and redevelopment.  We need to improve the Poway Road corridor to attract new businesses to come to Poway.  We need more affordable housing and a new vision for the future growth of residential development as our City population continues to increase.  Having the City Council act as the planning commission, housing authority and redevelopment agency is bottlenecking the process.  There is no way that the City Council, which meets only twice a month, can adequately address these issues in a timely and intelligent manner.  Citizen committees are also not working.  Therefore, we need to create a separate planning commission for the City - one that made up of professionals from the community that can focus on these specific issues, hold workshops for community input, work as an intermediary between staff and the Council, and make thought-out recommendations to the City Council for action.
