East County Native / Veteran / Leader:  Born and raised in East County, Erik joined the Air Force when he was 19 and served for nine years.  He graduated, with distinction, from the USAF Leadership Academy and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting while serving.   After returning to San Diego, Erik earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at SDSU.

Finance and Accounting Expert:  Erik worked as a Financial Analyst for Fortune 500 Homebuilder KB Home, where he co-developed the annual business plan and a $500 million operating budget for the San Diego and Irvine Divisions.  As a Financial Analyst for the San Diego International Airport, he developed expertise in local government finances.  Earlier in his career, Erik was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and was employed by the San Diego based Bank of Commerce.

Water Expert:  For the past five years, Erik has made it his mission to learn everything he can about the complexities of our water delivery system.  Erik is a graduate of the SDCWA Citizens Water Academy, and attended the 2 day Inspection Tour of the State Water Project. Erik has completed 18 semester hours of Sustainable Landscaping coursework at Cuyamaca College, and has studied drought situations and solutions abroad, including the acclaimed book “Let There Be Water:  Israel’s Solution for a Water Starved World.”

La Mesa Commissioner:  Since 2012, Erik has proudly served as the Veteran’s Representative on the La Mesa Aging and Veteran’s Commission.
