Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • In 2013, over 18,500 students left our district for classes or programs in other local districts. We need more classes and programs so that students do not need go elsewhere and also to serve students who cannot afford transportation or travel time.
  • The current SJECCD trustees want to lease 27 acres of EVC property for commercial/retail purposes for up to 95 years. As a trustee I will demand responsible use of college assets and involve the community, faculty, staff, and students.
  • A large number of our faculty and staff are part-time. We need to be offering more programs and classes and creating additional full-time positions.

San Jose State University BA, Social Science and a K-12 California Teachning Credential (1974)

My wife and I have lived San Jose for 45 years and in East San Jose in the Evergreen Community for the last 33 years.  Our 2 children went to public schools here in Evergreen and San Jose, they attended Evergreen Community College and received credits and graduated with BA’s from California public institutions.  I have a BA and a K-12 teaching credential from San Jose State University and later took my skills into education and training here into Silicon Valley companies.

I am proud to live in East San Jose where my wife and I intend to stay here where we have our home and raised our family.

Since 1983, I have successfully filled job roles of developing and delivering education and training, managed personnel and budgets, written technical documentation, and for the last 8 years, I have been a program and lead project manager in a training development and delivery organization.

Filosofía política

My political philosophy is progressive. I believe in a practical and realistic search for solutions that work for everyone, those that are grounded in a healthy skepticism, and discussion and solutions that benefit both or all parties.

With those on the left, center and right, I believe we must first affirm our shared values and respect everyone. Distinguishing between wants and needs, while recognizing everyone’s positions and ideals is paramount. Bringing together those who disagree is more often about how to balance resources, ideals and compromise.  Once we can be candid and have trust, only then we can evaluate and determine if a current or proposed solution is working, for whom it is working, and then reach agreements on next best steps.

The method requires avoidance of broad assumptions, establishing shared values and common goals. However, there can and will be times when this political philosophy does not make the progress needed and becomes unrealistic.  This will require decisions to be made where it is quite likely that a few or many on both sides of an issue are disappointed.
