Filosofía política

To be a good and effective member of a governing body, the following is a partial list of my guiding principle:

* Integrity, build trust

* We may not be able to agree on everything, but always remember the unity of purpose, be a consensus builder

* When in disagreement, find a win win solution, be part of the solution, not part of the problem

* Lead by example, be a team player for the good of the community

* Listen to input from others

* Make things happen instead of making promises

* Do not micromanage, know the distinction between governing and managing

* Expect accountability, focus on positive results, learn from mistake and improve instead of blaming others

* We must think of the impact of our action to the environment

My thoughts regarding what the next governing body of the city should consider as the city continues growing

This article covers the considerations as the city continues growing, what we should look into to make Milpitas a better city for all.

I already defined my top priorities, but in reality there are other issues and challenges.

I attended General Plan Update Community Meeting recently, it was clear to me that the city will continue growing. We were given opportunity to provide input. To take care our needs, everything will cost money, as the city continues growing, and part of our infrastructures are also aging, the cost will go up. We must take care of our top priorities, listen to constituents input and take care of their needs. In order to do that, most important factor to consider is the city finance. We need to ensure that we continue maintaining and strengthened our city's financial health with the following factors considered:

* The good economy is not going to last forever, we have to get ready for “rainy days”

* As the city continues growing in population, we must consider smart and balanced growth, but also consider how we can take care of the impact to school population, traffic and the environment

* Continue to bring in more businesses to enhance city revenue stream, at the same time, creating more local jobs.

* Bring in more high tech jobs, encourage start up companies to start here.

* Bring in more business to make Milpitas a destination city where people will spend their money to shop, dine, etc, creating more income for all. This becomes more important once BART starts serving Milpitas. We can bring in more people to visit Milpitas with minimum impact to traffic and environment.

* More local jobs means less commute, therefore helping mitigate the traffic issue, and less air pollution.
