Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Affordable housing, particularly so our teachers, police officers, fire fighters, utility workers, and those most in need can live and work in our community. Also senior housing, so our seniors can remain in our community.
  • Reduction of traffic congestion, by enhancing alternatives to driving alone, such as bicycling, carpooling, taking public transit, and telecommuting, and reduction of spillover parking from commercial areas into residential areas..
  • Collaboration with the Palo Alto Unified School District, including consideration of school capacity and class size when deciding housing polciies, long range planning for Cubberley, and providing housing for school teachers.

Biografía

Arthur Keller was born and raised in New York City.  He graduated from Brooklyn College with honors in mathematics and in computer and information science.  A National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship brought him to Palo Alto in 1977 as a graduate student at Stanford University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science.  He was an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin before returning to Palo Alto in 1987 to do research and teach at Stanford.

Professionally, Arthur has made important scientific contributions in the computer field.  He has also taught at UC Santa Cruz, where he continues as a researcher. He is a data scientist who advises startups and serves as a technical expert witness in the area of patent law.

Arthur has been a South Palo Alto resident and homeowner for 29 years.  His mother, Luba, is also a Palo Alto resident active in seniors programs. His twin daughters, Reta and Sophie, attended Palo Alto schools, inspiring his extensive volunteer leadership for our schools.

Arthur served for eight years on Palo Alto’s Planning and Transportation Commission, and currently serves as co-chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee on the Comprehensive Plan Update, to extend Palo Alto’s planning policies through 2030.  Arthur also is a member of the Environmental and Water Resources Committee for the Santa Clara Valley Water District, where he promotes policies addressing Sea Level Rise, reducing the risk of tidal and creek flooding, and water conservation.  He continues to serve as Transit Coordinator for Gunn High School even though his daughters have graduated.  He previously served as a member of the Facilities Steering Committee of Gunn High School, the Board of Directors of the Girls’ Middle School (where he started the 1:1 laptop program), Site Council for Ohlone Elementary School, and Board of Directors of Congregation Kol Emeth.

He founded the Adobe Meadow Neighborhood Association to give his neighborhood a voice in development being proposed nearby for East Meadow Circle and served as its first president.

Arthur is Chief Data Scientist, a founder, Chief Financial Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of PSYCHeANALYTICS, which integrates behavioral health into health care settings to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and increase revenues to physicians.

Filosofía política

I want our city government to be the best it can be. I support a thoughtful approach to managing development and growth that does not outpace the capacity of our schools, parks, services, and infrastructure, especially water.

Neighborhoods. When we make policy decisions, our priority must be to ensure that the quality of life in Palo Alto is preserved and enhanced for all Palo Altans. Our neighborhoods are key to our valued quality of life ... they are the heart and soul of our community, and their character must be respected and protected.

Development. We have allowed over-development, resulting in worsening traffic congestion and parking spilling over into neighborhoods. By tying the rate of growth to requirements that address the impacts of growth, we can ensure developers are properly managed and that we don’t overextend our city resources.

Housing. We need more affordable housing that will allow our teachers, police officers and firefighters to live and work right here in Palo Alto. I will work to ensure that new developments include affordable housing and that we accommodate seniors throughout our community.

Traffic and parking problems have be-come a tremendous challenge and while this problem has gotten much worse, many leaders in our community believe greenlighting new high end condos to move more people to Palo Alto is the solution. We need a real plan to alleviate traffic and it starts with managed, strategic development.

The choice is yours to make this November and I ask you to vote for me and support these important priorities in the next election.
