Biografía

Dennis Gambs is a former Principal Engineer for the Zone 7 Water Agency where he retired in 2015. He held a variety of positions which were responsible for the planning, design and construction of water supply and flood control projects. During his 34 years at Zone 7, he:

·       Managed the Vineyard Pipeline, Arroyo Mocho Widening and Dougherty Reservoir & Pipeline projects as well as many others.

·       Managed the feasibility studies and development of agreements for obtaining the water, storage and conveyance facilities needed to annex Dougherty Valley into Zone 7’s service area.

·       Established Zone 7’s Water Connection Fee and facility Renewal/Replacement Programs.

·       Negotiated the current treated water supply agreement Zone 7 has with its retailers.

·       Served as Zone 7’s representative on the Tri-Valley Agricultural Water Task Force, Alameda County Agricultural Advisory Committee and Tri-Valley Technical Advisory Committee, for the retailers.

Gambs has been a member of the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley since 1999. He is a past President and recipient of the club’s Rotarian of the Year Award. Fellow Rotarian Steve Neef, and he spearheaded the construction of a Bandstand in Carnegie Park in Livermore for which they received the Community Service Award in 2015. He is a member of the Rotarian Foundation of Livermore Board and was instrumental in purchasing a Mobile Health Unit to serve the under-insured in the Livermore Valley.

He recently served two years on the Alameda County Civil Grand Jury, which investigates the workings and efficiencies of Alameda County and local governments.

Gambs’ community service also includes President of the Tri Valley Adult Day Care Board, which is working with Bay Area Community Services to re-establish a local adult day center, seeking to reestablish an adult day care program that was displaced by a charter school.

He also served as a member and past president on the City of Livermore Design Review Committee, which reviewed and approved proposed building designs for the city. Gambs was a member and past president of the Southbay Engineer’s Club, a local information-sharing group of engineers from private companies and public municipalities.

Born in Oakland, he is a Bay Area native and fourth generation Californian. Gambs’ wife and he moved to Livermore in 1980 where they raised their two sons. They have since gained a daughter in-law, grandson and granddaughter.

Gambs is a licensed civil engineer and hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from UC Berkeley (1978) and a master’s degree in civil engineering (1990) from San Jose State University.
