Biografía

Nancy Magee has 34 years of experience in education. A graduate and college athlete from San Diego State University, Nancy began her career as a high school English teacher and varsity boys’ water polo coach. Magee was often recognized for her innovative style, earned teacher of the year and innovator in education honors, and year after year produced championship teams with many of her athletes going on to successful college careers.

She was a classroom teacher and school-wide leader for 20 years before earning a Master's Degree in School Library and Information Science and becoming a high school librarian. As an administrator, Magee has worked at the site, district, and county levels. No matter the role, Magee remains focused on student success.

As Associate Superintendent at the San Mateo County Office of Education, Nancy oversees direct educational services to students who are in the juvenile justice system or who are enrolled in SMCOE’s special education program. Additionally, she provides leadership in the areas of safe and supportive schools including emergency response and mental health coordination, foster youth, Safe Routes to School, Career Technical Education, and Special Olympics. At the state level, Nancy is a member of the Student Programs and Services Steering Committee as part of the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA).

Nancy is a resident of Half Moon Bay. She is openly gay and raised two boys who are both now well launched into adult life. She is a fan of live music, water sports, and the great outdoors which she enjoys with her family and friends.
