Dr. Mai Khanh Tran was just nine years old when she escaped Vietnam as part of the Orphan Airlift. To this day still remembers when a US Marine carried her off an airplane to her new home in America and changed her life forever.
During her teen years, when she wasn't busy studying in the classroom, Dr. Tran was out in the field, picking berries and getting her hands dirty in order to provide for her family. She worked her way through Harvard, cleaning bathroom and dormitories until, finally, her perseverance paid off when she was able to attend medical school at Dartmouth-Brown.
As a pediatrician, she has cared for thousands of local children and their families. She eventually ventured beyond her research and medical duties to take an active role in managing her practice, as well. In recognition of her tireless work, she was elevated to partner of her medical group, and has since led this small business on to great things. It's widely hailed as one of the foremost medical organizations in the state, voted Best Small Workplace in Orange County in 2015 and Best Medical Group in Orange County in 2017.
Of course, Dr. Tran is much more than the sum of her professional credentials. Outside her career, she's also a proud wife, mother, and two-time cancer survivor.
As a doctor, patient, and former healthcare financial analyst, Dr. Tran is uniquely qualified to assess the strengths and failures of our medical system from all angles. And as a committed family woman, she knows understands today's American families need from their government.
A good doctor listens to her patients. In Congress, Dr. Tran will bring that same ear to her constituents, and prioritize their well-being over all else.
