Filosofía política

I am like you. I consider myself to be a middle-class citizen. I have a family to feed. I have a pregnant wife and two children ages 5 and under, plus two dogs. I am holding a full-time job as a bedside intensive care nurse. I am also a full-time graduate school student in nursing. I have many bills to pay every month. I have a house mortgage to pay. I have a car payment. I also have a student loan to pay for undergrad school. I have a monthly medical insurance bill. I have to pay for my 401K. I am like you, a hard-working American. I get up early at 3 AM in the morning when everyone is asleep. I prepare my lunch box to save money. I go to work. I pay taxes just like you. I do believe in taxation as a funding source to provide essential public services such as public transportation, garbage disposal, education, and public safety, including hiring and maintaining law enforcement. However, I do not believe in wasting taxpayers money or raising taxes unnecessarily. For example, the recent lawsuits against the Sacramento Police Department for settlements were avoidable and regrettable.   1. Sacramento cop’s false testimony in federal lawsuit costs the city of Sacramento $220,000 - Yours and My tax dollars! http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article147296244.htm   2. Sacramento Settles Police Beating Lawsuit Will Pay Man $550,000 - Yours and My hard-earned tax dollars http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2018/04/06/jaywalking-lawsuit-settlement/   3. The City Of Sacramento Pays Record Settlement In Tragic Baby Death Case $9.75 million paid to grieving family of Baby Raiden, killed by a Sacramento Police Officer in a car crash. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/city-of-sacramento-pays-record-settlement-in-tragic-baby-death-case-300490522.html   4. Pending lawsuit Police shootings cost cities millions in settlements Attorney for Stephon Clark's family agreed to millions in settlements in other police killings http://www.kcra.com/article/police-shootings-cost-cities-millions-in-settlements/19602086   What do I see here? I see a crystal clear pattern, a wasteful and unaccountable pattern. This kind of nonsense must stop! This is not the way our hard-earned tax money should be spent. No one is above the law including law enforcement officers. I am not hard on them. I have higher expectations from them. I expect police officer hold themselves higher standards as well. If we hold those police officers accountable, our police forces grow stronger and transparent! This is the only way we can build that trusting bridge between the Sacramento Police Department and the public. Then the citizens of Sacramento will start trusting the city and police officers as well, not wasting hard-earned tax money. You and I, we pay taxes. We are the owners. The city is not providing free services for us. The City of Sacramento needs to be completely reformed. The city and its employees must understand the "public servant mindset" and change its culture into one that embraces openness, total transparency, and accountability in every aspect of the city business. The City is not doing taxpayers a favor. The city must listen when the people of Sacramento speak. These are very simple but powerful principles. The city and its employees and leaders must comprehend and possess those principles. When the city and its leaders fail to listen to the people of Sacramento, we must show them that the people of Sacramento will rise and stand tall and speak up! We support our city by holding them accountable. This way the city will grow stronger, more transparent, and be a better place to live! The bottom line is to serve the citizens of Sacramento, period!
