Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • I will solve the homeless issue.
  • I will bring 35% higher wages to mid income jobs by bringing companies in that pay higher wages so people can afford housing.
  • I will fight to not have vacation rentals in single family neighborhoods. In high density areas I will agree with direct supervision and enforcement.

Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de KPBS and the League of Women Voters of San Diego (5)

Should the Community Review Board on Police Practices be given subpoena power when reviewing allegations of officer misconduct? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Kevin D. Melton:

Yes, because this gives them the chance to question all of those they feel are involved. Transparency is the key to all truth in the matters.

Should the city eliminate minimum parking requirements for new housing near public transit? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Kevin D. Melton:

NO, beacause without this you would most likely be taking up more spaces on the streets and neighoods that are close to developments.

Would you support a tax increase that would fund housing and services to the homeless? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Kevin D. Melton:

No I would not, there is plenty of money coming in for homelessness, what we need to do is stop spending 100 million dollars on buildings that only house 50 or 60 people we need to put that money to better use.

Do you support increasing housing density in your council district? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Kevin D. Melton:

Yes, but in certain areas not in the single family home neighborhoods.

Do you support either of the plans on the November ballot that would sell the Mission Valley stadium site? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Kevin D. Melton:

Yes, I support it, it will bring more money to the city and relieve some of the debt they currently have on the site.
