Why should students be involved in Berkeley City politics? What are the issues and problems that most affect students?

Issues and Problems that most affect students:

1) high tuition rates

2) very few affordable housing near campus (or even far from campus)

3) sexual assault and violence

4) vulnerability to property crimes - theft of cell phones and laptop computers

How can the City improve the business climate on Telegraph Avenue and help stores stay in business?

1) better coordination between the City and the business owners and merchants about their needs - including police policies

2) easier access to busines permits - including the one with Alameda County.

3) As a Councilmember, I will explore and advocate for a small business lease/rent control
