About the Neighborhood Housing Fund for Monterey or NHFM for short

No one approach addresses the affordable housing challenges by itself. Rather, a multi-dimensional approach that addresses multiple facets of housing challenges with various approaches is needed. Therefore, the overall goals of affordable housing efforts are many. However, the Neighborhood Housing Fund for Monterey is one approach that seeks to address a sub-set of goals.

1.      Maintaining the integrity of community

2.      Fostering healthy, functional socio-economically diverse multi-generational neighborhoods

3.      Collocating workforce to existing jobs

4.      Reducing commute traffic, carbon emissions and congestion on local roadways

About the NHFM Approach

1.      NHFM is neighborhood focused thereby promoting affordable housing that is the right kind of housing for a given neighborhood.

2.      NHFM intends to support legitimate projects that meet municipal inclusionary housing goals thereby leveraging density bonuses and gaining additional units

3.      NHFM plans to work with distressed property owners to maintain their homes as affordable housing

4.      NHFM will spur collaboration between healthcare providers, employers and housing developers to bring more workforce affordable housing and improved health outcomes for our community.

Thank you for a successful Barrett For Monterey City Council Civic Engagement BBQ!
We served 160 servings of hamburgers, hotdogs and vegie burgers to approximately 100 Barrett for Monterey City Council supporters at the Campaign Kickoff and Civic Engagement BBQ! Thanks to you, our campaign has been able to make a strong statement that we are serious about running, and we have the support of our community in doing so. Your support was instrumental to the success of BBQ and Campaign Kickoff Event, which was held at Montecito Park. Holding the Kickoff at Montecito Park was emblematic of our commitment to the needs of working families, serving our neighborhoods and maintaining our community’s quality of life.

This is part of a collection of videos that Timothy produced during one on one interviews with an entire hospice care team. This impacting project shows the depth of care and the breadth of service that hospice care givers provide to those in need.

The Living with Dignity Videos express the humanity and the intrinsic value of community members who are un-housed and living among us. We all have stories that we present to the world, but during this project, the men and I took our time and looked deep within to the very moment of homelessness. To produce the videos, I created a recording set in a dance studio and provided a safe environment with a relaxing ambience. The men and I worked together for about two hours each to get to the poignant moments shared here.
