- DIVERSITY- I am the only candidate who is a renter and is not retired. I will bring a unique perspective to Council. Renters, those on fixed incomes, working households, and our residents with inadequate housing deserve a representative.
- TRANSPARENCY- I am transparent and accessible. I will respectfully listen to all residents, reply to when contacted, vote with integrity, and in a manner that puts our residents and local businesses first.
- HOUSING- A long term housing solution will take collaboration with other Peninsula cities. It is time for PG to take leadership by becoming a part of the dialogue and solution.

Biografía
I was born in rural New York State and raised mostly around Washington, DC.
I began my career as a computer programmer and worked for 20 years in product development for firms that sold computer hardware and software to large businesses and government. I spent the next 20 years in information technology helping companies use computer systems to optimize business operations and customer service.
I spent most of my career in management roles and held the title of Chief Information Officer at Informix Software, Quantum, and Applera corporations. As a manager and executive I learned to optimize financial and other resources. I also led teams and gained significant experience in problem solving, negotiation, and management of change. I thoroughly understand the importance of grounding actions in values within a vision for the future.
I became a transplanted Californian when my first employer relocated our group from St. Paul Minnesota to the San Francisco Bay Area to take advantage of the early days of Silicon Valley.
I have served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and currently serve on the board of the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History Foundation.
My husband, Jack and I married in 1975 and have one son who lives in Southern California

I am running for city council in Pacific Grove for love of the community, not for any specific issue. My background prepares me to look at all sides of the issues and balance competing interests of quality, cost, and capability. I value inclusiveness, respect, and connection with each other and nature. I also value science and the thoughtful use of information to govern what we do.

Mis 3 prioridades principales
- Fiscal Responsibility- Prioritize a balanced city budget with prudent oversight of revenues and expenses; partner with the business community; celebrate and expand citizen volunteers; and seek increased revenues while respecting community values.
- Infrastructure- Complete city wide plan for street and sidewalk repair while advocating for pedestrian and cyclist safety. Work to improve vibrancy of the downtown attracting new business to our commercial areas.
- Environmental- I would like to see PG take a leadership role in environmental concerns and work with our committed volunteer organizations. We need to protect our ecologically sensitive and diverse areas of our coastal trail for future generations.

I am running for city council because I care deeply about our Pacific Grove community. I support a balanced budget with sufficient revenues; repair of our streets and park improvements; enhancing the vibrancy of our downtown; and protection of our ecologically sensitive environment. I believe in a partnership between residents and local government and am willing to listen to all concerned citizens. My background in System Engineering allows me to look at all aspects of an issue and weigh the pros and cons as well as the unintended consequences.

Mis 3 prioridades principales
- Enhance Pacific Grove’s livability. I will work to provide city services our residents expect, fund delayed infrastructure improvements, enact a cell tower ordinance, implement the City’s housing plan, and complete a coastal plan.
- Develop a Downtown Plan. I will work to evaluate and enhance parking capacity for business patrons and employees develop commercial architectural standards, promote housing in upper building floors, and define and implement beautification measures.
- Manage the City budget. I will propose monthly budget review, insist on value for our tax dollars; hold the line on unsustainable budget increases; and consider new funding opportunities.

Biografía
I am a retired health administrator with extensive experience in decision making, regulatory affairs, planning, and finance. I have been married for 43 years and have three children and four grandchildren.
Born and reared in Southern California, I graduated from U.C. Davis and then served in the Army Ordnance Corps. In 1972, I moved to the Salinas area as a staff member of a regional health planning agency reponsible for regulating hospital construction. Later, I received a masters degree in public adminstration from the University of Southern California.
My wife Miriam and I, as newly weds, first came to Pacific Grove in 1975. We started our family here, but left in 1979 as I pursued career opportunities in health administration. That took us to Los Angeles, Oregon, and the Central Valley. In 2010, thinking ahead to retirement, we returned because we always considered Pacific Grove to be home.
In nearly 40 years in industry, I worked for some of the largest hospital organizations in the country and eventually reached the senior management level. I developed knowledge in such areas as strategy, planning, finance, governance, marketing, and community relations. During my career, I often served as a project leader responsible for development of new hospital, medical clinic, and outpatient facility projects. Those efforts required extensive interaction with state and local regulatory authorities in order to achieve project approval. Some notable examples of projects I was involved with include the Sutter Health Stockton campus, Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass, Oregon, and San Ramon Regional Medical Center.
Over the years I have served in various committees, boards, and commissions. Currently, I am a member of the Pacific Grove Planning Commission and a volunteer guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. As a Planning Commission member, I strive to thoroughly prepare for each agenda item and draw no final conclusions until I hear from everyone at the public hearing. Communication and research are skills that elected representatives must have to make decisions that impact our community. I believe my background in industry and government has given me those skills and would be honored to serve the citizens of Pacific Grove on the City Council.
I ask for your vote on November 8.

I am a candidate for City Council because leadership matters. Leadership matters if we are to continue to provide the services our residents deserve and expect, to manage the budget, and to make the hard choices often needed to govern our city. Leadership also requires problem solving: listening to people, framing issues, identifying and analyzing options, and making decisions for the greater good.
While Pacific Grove has made progress in recent years, more remains to be done. We need to continue to fund public safety services, streets and parks, the library and museum. We also must address such issues as promoting our downtown area, protecting our coastline, resolving the water shortage problem, developing a cell tower ordinance, and regulating short-term rental properties.
Resolution of those issues requires that we reach out so that all are heard, knowing that it takes a community working together to achieve the most effective, lasting results. Those efforts also require that we insist on transparency and open government processes.
If elected to the City Council, I will be committed to listening to different points of view, to thorough review and analysis of issues, and to thoughtful, fair decision-making.
I ask for your vote on November 8th.

Realizing nothing of greatness is ever done alone, I believe my sense of teamwork and dedication would be of great value to the city council team. It would be a pleasure to serve and I hope to earn your vote.

Biografía
I have lived in Pacific Grove for 63years. I previously served on the city council for 6 years and was also on the planning commission for three years. Unlike most of the other candidates I support Measure M. As a city we need to get spending under control and need to quit taxes our way out of problems. I am running for office again because I believe staff and the council lack historical and institutional knowledge. I am a graduate of PG High School and currently have three children attending Robert Down School. I humbly ask for your vote on November 6th.
