I was first elected to public office at 18 and served 2 terms as Town Meeting Representative in Reading, MA. Education includes graduate work at Harvard and a masters-level certification in microbiology.

Thank you for taking time to consider me. From dropout to valedictorian to migrant worker, I have felt life’s chaos and worked with what’s available. I started speaking up for myself and others early…as a toddler, during a particularly long sermon with people getting antsy, I stood up on the pew and hollered “That’s about enough!” when the preacher paused for breath. With age, I have learned more appropriate methods; at 18, I held public office to represent a neglected district. I work in agriculture and struggle with housing, so I support both preserving our farmland and increasing affordability. I also never quite outgrew the “but why?” stage, and my scientist side still demands explanations for decisions. As a worker, musician, and volunteer court appointed special advocate, I use facts, the richness of many voices, and known limitations to find and explain the best available solutions. On council, I will be your microphone. I’ll look for both obvious and hidden results, and explain exactly why I cast each vote. Please vote in November, but contact your representative now, so votes truly reflect your needs and wishes. Visit to help find more solutions!

Filosofía política

I believe in transparent representation - explaining why the votes in council are cast, and ensuring as many voices as possible are heard and considered. I believe in encouraging civic participation, including linking campaign finance for local office to the area median income - spending over 20% of AMI is not conducive to representative participation and tends to drown out individual voices. I believe that I have an obligation to do something about things that bother my constituents and myself, not just complain about how things are. And I believe that everyone really does have something valuable to contribute, including different viewpoints. I will also be focusing on proven and achievable changes to local policies which encourage the development of housing stock for all income levels and abilities, and for responsible use of taxpayer funds to ensure infrastructure repair money is spent for its intended purposes.
