Filosofía política

Supporting our Businesses:  Austin is a fiscal conservative and believes in restrained government. He believes in smart debt, strategic investment and balanced books. As your councilman, Austin will seek partnerships with Tustin’s business community to revitalize our great town – and not put the cost on our residents’ backs. Councilman Lumbard will lead the effort to encourage local economic growth.  Austin believes we can change the tone in this country if we each focus on our own backyards.

Smart Development:  Austin is the current Chair of Tustin’s Planning Commission. During his time on the Commission, Austin has deliberated over Tustin’s development and revitalization. Austin has presided over major infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects throughout Tustin. While Tustin Legacy gets a lot of attention because of its size and scale, Austin sees great opportunity throughout our city. Commissioner Lumbard has been closely involved with the revitalization of Old Town and he will work to keep the momentum moving. He wants to push forward the efforts to revitalize the Redhill and Newport corridors as well and to synchronize those traffic signals to improve traffic flow. Austin has a goal to improve the gateways to our community and he plans to introduce initiatives to encourage development of Tustin’s vacant lots. Austin wants to establish an evening farmer’s market in Old Town so more residents can attend. Tustin’s small town charm and warmth stand out in Orange County. Austin wants to celebrate what makes Tustin such a great place to live.

Quality of Life:  As your council member, Austin will work to protect our quality of life. Austin’s experience as a reserve deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department gives him a unique perspective on the challenges we face as a community. As your councilman, Austin will work to provide Tustin PD with the best tools available. He will work to keep crime out of Tustin and to improve our sense of community throughout the City. We are fortunate to have such a fine police force connected and engaged with our residents, but Austin believes community policing is also required of any great town like Tustin. Let’s keep each other healthy and safe.

Schools: Austin believes the hallmark of a great city is its schools. Tustin is fortunate to have quality schools, but we must strive for the best. Austin’s four young children are all headed to Tustin’s schools. His many nieces and nephews attend Tustin schools. Schools are a family matter to Austin. That is why he got involved with the effort to open Heritage Elementary which is providing innovative and cutting-edge education to our kids. As your councilman, Austin will bring that fighting spirit to push Tustin’s schools to greatness. Our children and grandchildren deserve it.

Anti-Crime:  According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) your chances of falling victim to either violent or property crime is 1 in 42.  This crime rate is nearly 60% higher than the rest of the state regardless of the size of the city.  Our men and women in uniform are brave and determined to keep us safe but we need to give them the support that they need.  My philosophy is simple, the first priority of government is to protect the people.  As a husband and father, my commitment is to keeping our families and neighborhoods safe.
