Developmnet, traffic and your money.
Keeping Buellton a small, safe, friendly city.
I have lived in several towns and cities all over California from Sacramento to San Diego. All of these places and been over-run by development. What is the common denominator, condos and apartments. Condos and apartments give the developer the highest return on investments. However, the people that live in the area have to deal with the aftermath of traffic, crime, hostile unfriendly attitudes, and standing in line at the supermarket. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe in no-development, I'm just for intelligent, well planned development, where the infrastructure keeps up with development.
Additionally, traffic must be taken into consideration during expansion. High density development causes congestion in isolated locations. This result is traffic delays, causing locals to find alternate routes. Usually residential neighborhoods. Meaning your neighborhood will be the new by-pass.
As an example, a new project has been approved at the end of Industrial Way called The Hub. This project is proposed to have commercial, office, and 54 apartments, with one way in and one way out, Industrial Way. Each apartment usually has two cars per unit and two adults. Simple math tells us Industrial Way will have at least 100 additional cars using that road. Not to mention, the CHP, big rigs, gym patrons, and everybody else that has a business or restaurant on that street. If you can't see a foreseeable problem, you need glasses for shortsightedness. I voted no NO the project, but it passed anyway.
I have been asked about the trucks on McMurray Rd. We are looking into alternate locations that will not adversely affect both the truck drivers and the businesses they frequent. We are working continuously on bike and working trails, as well as pedestrian safety around schools.
I work hard to manage our budget and keep spending at a minimum and watch the books. Your tax dollars are the council’s responsibility and should not be squandered.
I will continue to be diligent in these areas if elected. I will continue to vote to keep Buellton small and safe.
